A Packing List is a document used in trade transactions that indicates the form of packaging used in international shipments and what and how much is packed in each package.

It is often used in conjunction with an invoice (with the Packing List item included in the invoice) and a Packing List is often not prepared, but it may be required by the customer or bank under the terms of the transaction, or when goods are packed in multiple cartons, Or in the case of FCL shipments, a Packing List is prepared for the purpose of collecting payment, to prevent loss or omission of arrival, and to facilitate import/export declarations.

Although not a mandatory document for customs clearance at the time of import/export, the Packing List allows the importer to know the net weight, gross weight, packing style, volumetric weight (M3 ), carton serial number, shipping marks, etc. of each item before the cargo arrives, making it easier for the importer to prepare for receiving the shipment.

The Packing List should include the following items; –
